Bernadine Evaristo's Booker prize winning 'Girl, Woman, Other' is an incredible read, but the original cover doesn't evoke the books' key theme of interconnectivity between the diverse group of female characters.

To evoke this theme, my concept was to strikingly illustrate different characters' facial features stitched into traditional Kente fabric to form a singular face.

Girl, Woman, Other

This concept conveys the inter connections of the many characters and their Afro Caribbean heritage, while conveying the diversity of their appearance, personality, and ages. The chosen illustrative style doesn't shy from portraying details such as wrinkles, which are necessary to highlight the diversity of characters
